Dr Timothy Rebbeck - Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, USA

Dr Timothy Rebbeck speaks to ecancer about the 'Hammamet Declaration on Oncogenetics' announced by the African Oncogenetics Network. This is a network of global cancer leaders in Africa founded to ensure all Africans have access to life-saving cancer genetics care.

He outlines that the goal of the network is to bring cancer clinical genetics to Africa in order to bring the standard of care in Africa up to where the rest of the world is.

Dr Rebbeck explains that the Hammamet Declaration, announced at AORTIC, is a call to action to raise the awareness that clinical genetics is a central part of cancer care and that it needs the correct funding from governments and health systems.
