Pharmacovigilance in Nigeria began in 2004, focusing on product safety monitoring through collaboration with key stakeholders.

The country has transitioned from paper-based reporting to electronic systems, improving efficiency with tools like the ME-Safety app.

Nigeria has reached Level 3 maturity in global pharmacovigilance and is working towards achieving Level 4. Clear guidelines have been established for electronic reporting and the monitoring of serious adverse reactions, emphasising the importance of national data and patient support programmes.
