Prof Prisca Adejumo speaks to ecancer about integrating oncogenetics testing into clinics and national cancer control programs in Africa. This is part of the work of the African Oncogenetics Network which is a network of global cancer leaders in Africa founded to ensure all Africans have access to life-saving cancer genetics care.
She explains that one idea in Africa is to utilise nurses to assist and be trained on genetic counselling, pre-testing and post-testing genetic counselling.
Prof Adejumo highlights the alarming rate at which cancer incidence is increasing as a sign of the urgent need to implement oncognetics into Africa.
